The primary goal of The Playhouse is to provide a home for the Aqua City Actors Theater (ACAT). However, this is part of a grander vision to expand the “cultural center” of Waterville to encompass a larger area of the community, both geographically and conceptually. We hope to complement other cultural hubs in the city with community-oriented “playful” arts, culture, education, and performance.

Mission Statement The interactive exhibits and hands-on programs of the Children's Discovery Museum ignite curiosity and celebrate learning through play. Population Served: Our work within the museum reaches children 6 months to 8 years of age, as well as their families and caregivers. We welcome school groups, summer youth programs and other organizations serving this age range of children into the museum. Our History: In 1984, Augusta's Julie O'Brien incorporated her idea of a Children's Discovery Museum (CDM) in the state Capitol. She started out with travelling exhibits, hosting the first Discovery Day at the Farrington School in 1990. In 1991, it was decided that a permanent home needed to be found for CDM. After many hours of volunteer work, the Children's Discovery Museum opened its door at 265 Water Street, Augusta on August 1st, 1992. CDM was a wonderful addition to Augusta. In 1994, it was the recipient of the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award. A Capital Campaign in 1995 allowed the museum to double its exhibit space; more exhibit space and offices were added in 2000. In February of 2006, CDM closed to make major renovations and re-opened one year later with modernized and new exhibits. After much deliberation, the Board of Directors decides CDM needed to move. The Water Street location was closed October 2009 and CDM reopened on November 7th, 2009 in its brand new home at 171 Capitol Street in Augusta Big Changes on the Horizon! In the summer of 2016, the Children's Discovery Museum Board of Directors decided it was time for the museum to expand and relocate. The new location will be in Waterville, Maine, just 25min north of our current location, and is slated to open in 2020. This new location will include a much larger space, brand new exhibits and a new lineup of programs. In the meantime, the museum will continue to operate in its current location, so we hope you'll stop by!
The club was founded as the result of a merger between the old China Lake Association and the China Region Snowmobilers in 1970. The clubhouse, erected on the 7-acre lakefront property in 1976, fulfilled the dreams of both organizations and has been the center of the club’s various activities. In 2000 the club became a multi-use sportsman’s club by incorporating an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) riders section to it membership.
The clubhouse has, over time, been enlarged to include a restroom and kitchen area. Also a larger parking area, a larger beach/dock area, as well as a larger waterfront picnic area have been added to the property.
The CFSC maintains over 35 miles of Snowmobile and ATV trails within the Town of China, including land-owner relations that keep our trails contiguous. Community involvement is also a key tenant toward ensuring the trail system remains in place both now and into the future. Follow-through in these important endeavors is the core mission of the CFSC.

The Messalonskee Trail Riders ATV Club is a group trying to maintain the trails of Oakland for public use. We achieve this through events and group meetings. We meet every second Tuesday of the month at the Oakland Police Station. Our meetings begin at 7:00pm. The Redington Museum is housed in a handsome two story home built in 1814 by pioneer Waterville settler Asa Redington, a veteran of three enlistments in the Revolutionary War and a member of George Washington's elite Honor Guard. After the revolution he developed the water rights at Ticonic Falls and with his sons Samuel and William established a thriving flour mill on the banks of the Kennebec River. The father of six sons and three daughters, Asa built this substantial home for his son William. Fashioned of great hewn timbers, all hand pegged, it still features the original spiral staircase, fireplaces with period woodwork, and floors of wide pumpkin pine. The newel post in the entrance exhibits the "contractor's peace stone," a small smooth polished stone signifying in Colonial times that the project had been completed to both the owner's and builder's satisfaction. Today five rooms are furnished with antiques of the late 18th and early 19th centuries from the Redington and Heath families, the family of pioneer attorney Timothy Boutelle, and from other early local families. The house has been open to the public as a museum since 1927 and was entered in the National Register of Historic Places. Located in the heart of Central Maine, our fairground is in close proximity to the Maine Coast, golf courses, and mountains, encompassing 275 acres. This 10-day fair is the 2nd largest agricultural fair in Maine, with attendance estimated at over 150,000, offering daily entertainment featuring the best of local and nationally recognized talent. A huge exhibit of farm animals with premiums to exhibitors approaching $125,000.00. Nine days of harness racing, all but Weds., with some of the highest purses of the year. Experience a large exhibition hall, 12 historical museum buildings with demonstrations, Livestock, Truck and Tractor Pulls, Demolition Derbies, Woodsman's Day, Live Music, and an Auto Stunt Thrill Show.
