United Way of Kennebec Valley (UWKV) is proud to announce Katie and Chris Doherty as co-chairs of its 2026 annual campaign, which will officially launch in September under the theme “United is the Way.”
In this leadership role, the Dohertys will guide UWKV’s community-wide fundraising efforts, working to engage individuals, businesses, and organizations across the Kennebec Valley. As longtime residents of the region, they will serve as key ambassadors for the campaign, helping to strengthen partnerships and expand support for UWKV’s mission.
Katie Doherty, president and CEO of the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Chris Doherty, a golf professional at Brunswick Golf Club, reside in Gardiner with their two children. Together, they offer extensive leadership experience, strong community ties, and a shared commitment to improving lives throughout the region. Their efforts will focus on growing workplace and community giving, expanding UWKV’s Campaign Champions network, and aligning partners across sectors.
This year’s campaign will highlight youth opportunity—one of UWKV’s three key impact areas—by elevating programs that help young people succeed. These include initiatives focused on literacy, mentoring, scholarships, and enrichment opportunities that support long-term success.
A lifelong resident of the region and a graduate of Thomas College, Katie has served as President & CEO of the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce for the past nine years, following her time as Program Director. She has helped bring major events like IRONMAN 70.3 Maine to Augusta and advanced leadership programs including the Kennebec Leadership Institute and 7th UP, while serving in statewide and national chamber leadership roles.
Chris, originally from Topsham, is a Golf Professional at Brunswick Golf Club. His career includes experience at several of Maine’s premier courses, including Augusta Country Club. Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to growing the game and strengthening community connections through golf.
UWKV invites community members to participate in this year’s campaign through workplace giving, individual contributions, or volunteerism. Each contribution supports efforts to build a stronger Kennebec Valley.
