Development Coordinator (AmeriCorps VISTA)

Position Type: One-year service term, full-time
Location: Onsite in Skowhegan, Maine

Main Street Skowhegan is seeking a highly organized and proactive Development Coordinator to support the organization’s growing fundraising and donor engagement efforts. Working closely with senior leadership, this role will help strengthen MSS’s development systems by managing CRM data, coordinating donor stewardship, supporting grant and campaign activities, and assisting with implementation of the organization’s fundraising strategy.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, a strong communicator, and motivated by the opportunity to advance rural economic development and community impact. This is a full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA position with the opportunity to extend if mutually agreed upon. The Development Coordinator will serve onsite (not hybrid) and report directly to the President & CEO, providing significant hands-on experience and insight into nonprofit leadership and operations. Key Responsibilities: Manage donor stewardship activities, including scheduling meetings and preparing thank-you cards and acknowledgments. Ensure all business and donor contact information in the CRM is accurate and up to date. Record interaction notes in the CRM following meetings, calls, and touchpoints. Enter and track all sponsorships in the CRM. Enter and track all donations in the CRM. Assist with donor and partner communications, including drafting emails, updates, and impact stories. Support grant development through research, drafting, editing, and tracking deadlines and reports. Coordinate fundraising campaigns, events, and related outreach. Help produce development materials such as one-pagers, brochures, slide decks, and social media content. Maintain organized systems for funder deadlines, cultivation activities, and development workflows. Support development and implementation of MSS’s annual fundraising strategy and work plan. Conduct prospect research to identify and qualify new donor and sponsor opportunities. Help track fundraising goals, pipeline activity, and campaign progress against targets. Assist with moves management, including donor segmentation and cultivation planning.
