  March 13:Central Maine Business Success Stories: How Three Local Businesses Did It! Becoming a successful business requires a lot of knowledge and information. One of the best paths to success is to learn from colleagues the do's and dont's that led them to their successes (and/or failures). A panel of three local, successful business people will offer their insights and secrets to success- Mike Boulet, owner Mainely Trusses; Sue Giguere, owner Care & Comfort; Mike Comer of Johnny's Selected Seeds. Come hear how these business owners built strong, vibrant businesses from humble beginnings.
  February 14: The State of Maine's Energy Plan- John Kerry, director of the Office of Energy Independence and Security, will be charting the course to Maine's energy independence and security for the next 50 years.
  January 10: What Surprises Are In Store For Us This Legislative Session? Kristine M. Ossenfort, the lobbyist with the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, will update us on the latest issues coming before the Legislature that will affect our business members. Topics will include the usual suspects of health care, tax reform, and spending reform, plus an update on the hot school consolidation issue.
  December 13: "The Importance of Tone in Business Writing" (Or, "How To Keep An Email From Blowing UpIn Your Face"). We use email and other correspondence every day in our organizations. Tone- How we say something- is a very important method we can use to motivate readers to do what we want. Ignoring tone can createconfused, irritated or angry readers- thus, delaying action and possibly damaging businessrelationships. Our presenter will give an informative and lively presentation about how successful business writers can use this essential tool. Presented by Bruce MacMillan, from MacMillan Associates, Inc. of Phippsburg, ME. Bruce has a M.S. in Journalism from Syracuse University and is a member of the National Speakers Association.
  November 8: Stop the Cash Flow Roller Coaster, I Want to Get Off! Managing cash flow is a major headache for small business owners. Discover how to stop the feast and famine cycle of roller coaster cash flow that plagues 66% of all small businesses. Caroline Jordan MBA, accountant, author, and professor gives solid,practical tips and strategies that allow business owners to take control of their most important business asset.
October 11: The Subprime Mortgage Mess: Will there be an impact in Maine? Presented by Chuck Lawton, Chief Economist of Planning Decisions, Inc. and Columnist for the Maine Sunday Telegram will discuss Maine's increasing dependence on housing its related stories and potential problems for the state resulting from the recent upheaval in the national and international credit markets.
  September 13: The New e=mc^2 ... Emotional Intelligence Equals More Customers, and Then Some. Presented by John Kenneally, owner of Kenneally and Associates, a corporate training company.
May 3: The Four Generation Workplace — Learn how work ethic is shaped - understanding the changing world of work and how to reshape the change. Presented by Carol Albert, Auburn branch manager of Manpower. (PowerPoint Presentation)

  January 11: Maine's Energy Future - A path forward for business and communities. Kurt Adams, chairman and commissioner for the PUC, addresses electricity costs and trends in Maine, in particular Maine's unique role in the northeast and the energy market.
